Registration/payment may be conveniently handled online, or you may drop by in person or phone the Art Center at 970-586-5882. Modest supply fees in each adult class will be payable directly to the teacher on the day of class. You will never be asked to bring anything more yourself than simple hand sewing supplies such as a thimble and small scissors. The only exception is the kid's class on July 11 when the kids are asked to bring two towels to class with them!

Cari Cook's work as a fabric artist began 12 years ago and continues to evolve as she pushes the boundaries of what she can do with wool. She combines the softest of wools and miscellaneous fibers with her own hand dyed silk to create hats, bracelets, vests, jackets, shawls and bags. Her designs reflect her love of horses, the beauty of nature andimpressionistic art. Cook and her husband reside on a small farm in Longmont, CO and she's not in her studio, you can find her on her horse or working in the garden. Her website is: www.thequiltedhorse.net.

In this class you will work with the softest of wools to make a unique felted necklace. You will learn how to make a cord and felted flowers and leaves. We will finish off the necklace by embellishing the flowers with beads. This class is about having fun while learning some basic felting techniques. No experience required. Adults and teens are both welcome to attend! The teacher will bring the necessary supplies, and there will be a $5 fee for each student (payable directly to the teacher on the day of class) for the wool and beads.

Use the Notan thinking in two values (light and dark) as a starting point to design the subject. Simplify the subject by combining like values.

Pojagi is an Ancient type of needlework from Korea. Alice will bring many different pieces for everyone to look at. Typically the pieces are made from either silk, or raime (a plant fiber), and were originally used as utilitarian wrapping cloths. Today, Pojagi is an artwork all its own with designs ranging from simple to intricate.

In this class we will make two projects in the style of Pojagi – a pincushion in silk, and a small mat using Korean raime.

All supplies for both projects are included in the class kit that should be purchased directly from the instructor on the day of class for $30. Participants only need to bring general hand sewing supplies, ie – thimble, small scissors, etc.

Alice Ridge hails from Indiana and has been a quilter for over 40 years and a Traveling Quilt Teacher and Speaker for some time. When not teaching and speaking, she travels internationally to learn more about the many, many different types of quilting and needlework techniques around the world. She says, "Quilting is my passion! I am a wife, mother, sister and grandmother, but primarily — I am a quilter!"

Watercolor paint meets Zentangle in this playful and creative class. We will combine watercolor painting with Zentangle-inspired pattern work to create an illustrative, expressive vegetable medley. This class is appropriate for any artists, whether you are beginning your creative journey, an avid tangler or brand new to watercolor and Zentangle.
